PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Michael Noonan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Serget (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Noonan kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is 3DD - Kryptonite. Serget has chosen Friends in lower places as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 39 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Michael Noonan!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 34 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Bob Serget!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Alec Ball and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Serget shoots for a takedown but Noonan saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Noonan throws a leg kick which misses Serget's front leg but catches the back leg as Serget tries to avoid it.
Noonan keeps the fight on the outside.
Serget dives in for a single leg takedown but Noonan sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Noonan catches Serget with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!


It looks like Bob Serget has been cut.
Serget rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Noonan moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Serget slaps away a takedown attempt from Noonan, before circling back to the center of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Noonan fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Noonan shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Serget pinned against the cage. Serget gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Noonan is in all sorts of trouble here.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Serget tries to score a power double leg takedown but Noonan sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Serget somewhat.

Serget fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Noonan to the ground. Serget is now in Noonan's guard.
Noonan lands with a heel strike from the guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Serget postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Serget must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Serget shoots in looking for a takedown. Noonan tries to sprawl out of it but Serget keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Noonan manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Noonan was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Serget avoids a kick to the body.
Serget checks a low kick from Noonan.
Serget tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Noonan thuds his right hand into Serget's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Serget is trying to get an arm triangle but Noonan is defending well.
Noonan has one of Serget's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage.
Noonan is trying to work for a sweep but Serget has mounted him!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Noonan sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Noonan makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Noonan.

Noonan has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Serget can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Noonan looking to hit a scissor sweep but Serget is one step ahead there.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Noonan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Serget swivels though and keeps the full guard.
