Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Piotr Kowalski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Aleksander Meyer!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Seu Braga and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kowalski fails with an attempt to clinch.
Meyer circles away from the clinch attempt
and Meyer counters with a good, hard body kick but Kowalski shrugs it off.

Kowalski has closed the distance and engaged Meyer in a clinch.
Kowalski tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Meyer's elbow.

Kowalski escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Kowalski tries to close the distance and clinch up but Meyer swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Meyer replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Kowalski blocks it well.

Kowalski closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kowalski has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Meyer avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Meyer seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Kowalski moves into range and clinches up with Meyer.
Kowalski drops down looking for an ankle pick but Meyer pulls his leg out and moves away.

Kowalski closes the distance and pushes Meyer back into the cage.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Kowalski takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Kowalski tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Kowalski has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Meyer regains guard immediately.
Meyer wants to sweep but no luck.

Meyer is looking to stand up but Kowalski isn't so interested in that idea.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Meyer is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Kowalski knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Meyer on the ground.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Meyer wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Kowalski manages to pass to side control.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Meyer has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kowalski can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
