Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Derrick Carmichael !

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Carmichael fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Sann to the ground. Carmichael is now in Sann's guard.
Sann wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Carmichael manages to pass to side control.

Carmichael is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Sann wants to sweep here but Carmichael controlling him for the moment.
Carmichael passes Sann's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sann is trying to maintain the position but Carmichael is very close to passing his half guard.
Carmichael stops Sann from getting back to his feet.
Sann won't allow Carmichael to pass to mount.

Well, if Carmichael is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Carmichael is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Sann is just riding it out for now. Carmichael eventually gives up the hold.

Sann is controlling Carmichael 's position as best he can from this difficult position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Sann has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Carmichael wants to free his trapped foot but Sann is holding on for dear life with his legs.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sann manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Carmichael has managed to clinch.
Carmichael has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Sann avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Carmichael escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Carmichael gets a double leg takedown into Sann's guard.

Sann wants to get back to his feet but Carmichael is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Carmichael 's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Let's hope that Carmichael has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Carmichael stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sann swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Carmichael is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Sann is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Carmichael not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Sann tries to clinch but Carmichael is having none of it.
Sann gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Carmichael counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Sann fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
The referee is keeping an eye on Carmichael - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Carmichael changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Sann fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Sann doesn't manage to clinch there - Carmichael circles away.
Carmichael shoots and misses
and Sann connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Carmichael shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Sann defends it nicely.
Sann tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Sann blocks a head kick by Carmichael .
Sann tries to counter by clinching up but Carmichael breaks away and moves out of range.
Sann thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Carmichael if he has to take too many more of those.
Sann looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Sann fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Carmichael is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

Daniel Sann has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Derrick Carmichael .
Carmichael throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Sann stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Carmichael enables Sann to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Carmichael manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Sann drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Carmichael manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Sann has Carmichael in his guard.

Sann is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Sann is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Carmichael throws an elbow that misses. Sann uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Carmichael 's guard. Nice move by Sann!

Sann shoots in and drives through. Carmichael sprawls well.

Sann went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Carmichael closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Carmichael is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Carmichael wants to control but Sann postures up.
Sann is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Carmichael can do to turn this around?

Sann passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Carmichael !

Sann is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Carmichael has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Carmichael !

Sann stands and throws Carmichael 's legs to the side, diving into side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Sann cracks Carmichael with a big right hand but Carmichael just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Well Sann has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
