The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rey shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Farofa makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Rey tries for a takedown but Farofa circles away easily
and Farofa counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Rey misses with a takedown attempt
and Farofa connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Carlos Farofa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Angel Rey.

Rey looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Rey tries to pass the half guard into mount. Farofa knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Farofa throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rey sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Farofa's guard.
Rey looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Farofa is rocked!
Rey lands a massive shot from half guard that has rocked Farofa! More strikes land and this one is all over! Rey jumps to his feet and is applauded loudly by the crowd!
