Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ivo Koljeno (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Simeon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ivo Koljeno has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Ivo Koljeno!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, James Simeon!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Damien Edna and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Simeon drives through with a takedown into guard.
Simeon is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Simeon works over Koljeno with some ground and pound from guard.
Koljeno wants to sweep here but Simeon controlling him for the moment.
Simeon controls from within his opponent's guard.
Koljeno is looking to stand up but Simeon isn't so interested in that idea.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Simeon scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Koljeno seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Simeon is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Koljeno misses with a head kick.
Koljeno tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Simeon paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Koljeno throws a sloppy head kick and Simeon moves out of range easily.

Koljeno lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Simeon backwards.

Simeon turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Simeon manages to end up in side control.

Simeon swings around for an armbar but Koljeno sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Simeon's guard.
Koljeno postures up in Simeon's guard and throws a big left but Simeon blocks it.

Simeon has Koljeno pulled in close to control his posture.
Simeon manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Koljeno manages to get himself to full guard.
Simeon's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Simeon has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Simeon shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Simeon showed some decent athleticism there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Simeon wants to work for an arm triangle but Koljeno is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Simeon is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Koljeno defends it well.
Simeon stalling away here and it's allowed Koljeno to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Koljeno has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Simeon can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Koljeno is breathing heavily.
Koljeno looking to hit a scissor sweep but Simeon is one step ahead there.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Simeon makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Simeon is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Koljeno on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Simeon has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Simeon connects with a nice short shot to Koljeno's temple.

Simeon lands strikes from half guard.
Simeon looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Koljeno with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Simeon winds up and cracks Koljeno with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Simeon is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Simeon is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Koljeno is refusing to be controlled, as Simeon sits in half guard.
James Simeon has got the better of the ground game so far.

Simeon changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Koljeno looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Koljeno is working to avoid the ground and pound but Simeon connects with a decent elbow.

We've been informed that Simeon has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Simeon is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Koljeno is surviving well by controlling Simeon's body position as best he can.

Simeon is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Koljeno to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Koljeno shrugs it off.
Koljeno tries to improve his position but instead Simeon has taken his back!
Simeon lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Koljeno hold on?!

Koljeno is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Simeon.

Simeon has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Koljeno is defending well but eventually Simeon manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Koljeno has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!
