Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between James Coshak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jamahl Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones has chosen Blockbuster Night Pt. 1 as his entrance music. Jamahl Jones acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, James Coshak!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jamahl Jones!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Alyssa Summers and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jones gets caught napping as Coshak dives in and scores a takedown. Jones manages to retain guard.
We've been hearing good reports from Coshak's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Coshak wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving.
Coshak with a flurry of punches that miss.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Coshak seems a little lost for a moment, as Jones dominates the positioning.

Jones is trying to ground and pound but Coshak uses the momentary lack of control by Jones to regain half guard.

Coshak is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Jones pulls his head out easily.
Jones lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jones throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Coshak to regain full guard.
Jones wants to control from the top but Coshak keeps moving.
Coshak looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Coshak is breathing heavily.
Coshak keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully.
Coshak will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Coshak working for a triangle but Jones defends it easily.
Jones stands up over Coshak, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Jones keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Coshak's head.
Jones with a flurry of punches that miss.

Jones stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Jones stands up.

Jones fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Coshak sprawls well initially but Jones persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Coshak is staying active underneath Jones, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Coshak stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Coshak wants it to stay on the feet.
Coshak is trying hard to land a takedown here. Jones sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
As Coshak backs off Jones throws a huge counter combo but Coshak manages to avoid it all.

Jones darts in and clinches Coshak up against the cage.
Coshak has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Jones avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Jones is pressed up against the cage. Coshak has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Jones down to the mat. Jones avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Jones has gone for a leg lock! Coshak slips out almost immediately though and dives into Jones's guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Coshak slips nicely into half guard.
Coshak is keen to just control but Jones is a slippery customer.
Jones wants to control but Coshak is keeping busy.
Coshak thows a huge punch but Jones dodges it nicely.
Jones really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Coshak. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Coshak pushing down on Jones's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Coshak lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Jones tries to kick Coshak off but Coshak keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Coshak seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Jones regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Coshak.
Jones tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Coshak is fighting to break Jones's control of his arms but Jones is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Jones scores with a takedown into Coshak's guard.

Coshak has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Jones off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Jones closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Coshak did well to prevent Jones getting side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jamahl Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Jones closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Jones manages to pull guard.

Jones tries to land a sweep but no joy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Coshak is stalling in the full guard.
Coshak won't allow Jones to get back to his feet.

Jones is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Coshak wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving.
Jones avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Coshak closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Jones to the mat! Jones manages to get full guard.

Jones is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Coshak presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Jones wants a takedown.

Jones wants the takedown. Coshak is fighting it off but Jones persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Coshak's guard against the cage.
Coshak looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Jones puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Jones takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Jones decides to stand up.
Horrible takedown attempt by Jones or perhaps it was just good defense by Coshak, which made it look bad.

Jones clinches.
Coshak is trying to drag Jones to the mat but Jones just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Jones crunches a lovely knee into Coshak's ribcage.

Jones breaks from the clinch.
Coshak is trying hard to land a takedown here. Jones sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Jones is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Coshak with a body shot.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Coshak. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Jones darts in and clinches Coshak up against the cage.

Jones escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Jones shoots in but Coshak avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Jones has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Coshak is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Jones decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Jones takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Jones looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Jones is keen to just control but Coshak is a slippery customer.
Jones lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Jones connects with a nice short shot to Coshak's temple.
Jamahl Jones is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Jones looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
James Coshak has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Jones stands up from half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jamahl Jones comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Jones has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Jamahl Jones decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
