The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown attempt by Skrzetuski or perhaps it was just good defense by Newbold, which made it look bad.

Newbold closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Newbold lands in his opponent's guard.

Skrzetuski is pulling down on Newbold's head to control his posture.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Skrzetuski really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Newbold. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Newbold seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Newbold working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
