Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ron Green (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Shelby (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Green comes to the cage accompanied by Battle Royal. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shelby avoids a punch combination nicely.

It looks like Ron Green has been cut.
Green throws a shot from downtown. Shelby moves away and avoids it.
Shelby changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

It seemed like Shelby was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Green throws out a loose jab but Shelby uses good head movement to avoid it.
Shelby takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Green looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Both these guys seem content to just stand up and trade with eachother but Shelby might want to think about changing up his gameplan a bit because over the course of the fight, Green has got the better of the exchanges.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Shelby is stalling here. Green is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Shelby seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Green has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
