The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Volkov tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Shaughnessy swivels and escapes.
A countering left hand to the body from Shaughnessy misses.
Volkov shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Shaughnessy as he avoids it easily.
Shaughnessy looks to score with a jab to the body but Volkov is just out of range.

and Shaughnessy counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vladislav Volkov. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Some wild striking there from Shaughnessy.
Volkov is looking for a counter combo.
Volkov moves forwards but Shaughnessy connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Shaughnessy dips to his left and cracks Volkov with an uppercut!
Volkov closes the distance looking to clinch
and Shaughnessy connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shaughnessy uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Volkov.
Volkov takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Volkov throws out a leg kick but Shaughnessy moves out of range and Volkov only half commits.
Shaughnessy misses the shot to the body.
Shaughnessy throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Volkov tries to score a power double leg takedown but Shaughnessy sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Volkov somewhat.
As Volkov backs off Shaughnessy throws a huge counter combo but Volkov manages to avoid it all.

Shaughnessy uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Shaughnessy lands with a nice body punch.
Volkov doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Shaughnessy counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Shaughnessy fails to land with a series of punches.
Shaughnessy throws a body punch but Volkov moves out of range.

Volkov moves in looking to clinch but Shaughnessy pushes him off.
Shaughnessy lands a jab to the nose.
Shaughnessy throws a good cross that connects.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Shaughnessy swings for the body but Volkov moves out of range.
Volkov is looking to counter punch.

Volkov is looking to clinch but Shaughnessy is avoiding it.
Shaughnessy is looking for the big counter here.
Volkov shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Shaughnessy but Shaughnessy pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Volkov throws a right and a left that Shaughnessy avoids nicely.
Shaughnessy lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Volkov is rocked!

It looks like Vladislav Volkov has been cut.
and Shaughnessy counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Volkov! He's just covering up as Shaughnessy starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!
