These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee throws a lazy head kick
and Hawthorne counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Hawthorne comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Lee goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Hawthorne lands with a shot to the body.
Lee throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Lee misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Hawthorne feinted there with a counter leg kick.

and Hawthorne counters with a straight right hand.
Lee throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Good leg kick by Hawthorne there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Hawthorne throws out a head kick that Lee doesn't see coming - it connects and sends Lee crashing to the mat face first! He's bounced up to his knees and is scrambling to get back to his feet and beat the count. He's up on 5 but still looks a bit groggy; will the referee allow it to continue??? He's taking a good look into Lee's eyes and has decided to let it go on!

It looks like Bruce Lee has been cut.
Hawthorne circles away before darting back in with a big straight right hand. It connects beautifully and sends Lee tumbling to the canvas! He's out cold! Hawthorne wins by KO!
