PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between jake sir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Keke Ikonen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ikonen has chosen Clint Mansell - Requiem for a Dream Remix as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Keke Ikonen looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
sir fails in his attempt to clinch.

sir works the jab nicely.
sir swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
sir lands a right hook to the body.

sir changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ikonen looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Ikonen is looking to regain half guard here but sir keeps moving and retains side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
sir wants to control but Ikonen is keeping him busy.
sir takes a little break here. Ikonen wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

sir decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Ikonen shoots in looking for a takedown. sir tries to sprawl out of it but Ikonen keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. sir manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

sir stalks Ikonen and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Ikonen's face. Ikonen staggers backwards, shaken.

sir rushes Ikonen and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

sir drags the fight down to the ground.
sir is trying to control the position but Ikonen postures up.
sir has Ikonen pulled in close to control his posture.

Ikonen drops back, looking for a kneebar! sir looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. sir looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from sir!

Ikonen thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Ikonen shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in sir's guard.

sir escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ikonen gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

sir has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ikonen can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Ikonen seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Ikonen decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Ikonen is looking to work his way out of this bad position but sir is controlling him well.
You can see the frustration on Ikonen's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Ikonen takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Ikonen throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

jake sir has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Keke Ikonen.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
sir closes the distance but Ikonen moves to the side

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Ikonen, as that shot connected.

Ikonen closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
