Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Brian Gumby!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Alex Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Sandra Marshall and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Johnson closes the distance and clinches.
Gumby leaning against his opponent.
Gumby tries to break free but Johnson pushes him back against the cage.

Johnson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Johnson stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Gumby.
Johnson dives in and grabs Gumby's left leg, looking for a takedown. Gumby pushes down on Johnson's head and hops out.
Gumby fires out a quick counter leg kick but Johnson just manages to avoid it.
Johnson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gumby tries to avoid it but Johnson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gumby to the ground. Gumby escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Johnson looks for a takedown but Gumby sprawls well.
Brian Gumby has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alex Johnson.
Nice takedown defense from Gumby. No joy for Johnson on that attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gumby lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Gumby throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Johnson is in close to Gumby's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Johnson decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Gumby, up you get!

Johnson forces Gumby back against the cage and clinches.

Johnson manages to break the clinch.

Johnson moves into the clinch.
Gumby wants to break free but Johnson has control.

Johnson jumps into guard, dragging Gumby to the mat.
Gumby has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Johnson looking for a sweep. Not yet Johnson, not yet.
Gumby trying to control the position from guard on top but Johnson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Gumby with a flurry of punches that miss.
Johnson pulls Gumby in to control the position.
Johnson lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Johnson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Gumby is trying to control the position but Johnson postures up.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Johnson lands a couple of digs.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Gumby is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alex Johnson dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Johnson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gumby tries to avoid it but Johnson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gumby to the ground. Gumby escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Johnson chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Gumby can pounce on him.
Johnson misses with a takedown attempt - Gumby sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Johnson on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Johnson's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Johnson fails in his attempt to clinch.
Gumby fakes the leg kick and cracks Johnson in the body.
Gumby ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Johnson closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Gumby quickly recovers to half guard.
Gumby won't allow Johnson to pass to mount.
Gumby wants to sweep but Johnson has passed to side control!
Johnson cracks Gumby with a big right hand but Gumby just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Johnson decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Gumby with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Johnson takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Johnson fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Gumby avoids it really well and circles away.
Gumby scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Gumby lands a nice looking body shot.
Gumby is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Johnson can do to turn this around?

Gumby is trying to break the clinch but Johnson is controlling him.
Johnson keeps control of Gumby as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Johnson is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Gumby tries to break the clinch but Johnson is controlling the position.
Gumby is looking to break free of the clinch but Johnson has double underhooks.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Gumby fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Johnson fails with the takedown.
Gumby scores with a hook to the body. Johnson takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Both fighters circling a little - Gumby finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Johnson shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Gumby lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Johnson circles away quickly and effectively.
Gumby lands a nice leg kick that just misses Johnson's sensitive parts.

Gumby is looking for a counter combo.

That's time! Gumby's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Johnson tries for a takedown but Gumby sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Gumby keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Johnson has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Gumby.

Gumby is looking to wear down Johnson with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Gumby lands a lovely overhand right.
Gumby throws a nice inside leg kick.
Gumby pushes Johnson away with a front kick.

Ouch! a nice leg kick from Gumby, right into the meat.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Johnson takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
A slapping body kick lands there for Gumby.
Johnson takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Gumby digs a good body shot into Johnson's ribs.
Gumby fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Johnson has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Gumby throws a nice outside leg kick.
A nice leg kick lands there from Gumby.
Gumby feints and then cracks Johnson's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Johnson down.
Johnson tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Johnson steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Gumby. That one must have hurt.
Gumby stalks Johnson and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Johnson's face. Johnson staggers backwards, shaken.

Johnson takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Gumby fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Johnson.
Gumby scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Johnson fails with the takedown
and Gumby counters with a left to the body.
Gumby lands a front kick.
Gumby lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Good leg kick by Gumby there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Gumby.

Johnson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Gumby manages to avoid it.

Gumby feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Johnson's calf.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Gumby lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Gumby lands a jab-cross combination.
Gumby looks to land a combination but Johnson avoids it well.
A head kick misses from Johnson.
Johnson misses with a few strikes there.
It looked like Gumby wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
A combination from Gumby does no damage.
Gumby turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Gumby cracks a nice hook into Johnson's ribs.

Gumby connects with an inside leg kick.
