Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gaylord Cannon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vladimir Petrakov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Gaylord Cannon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vladimir Petrakov!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Igor Prikhodko and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Petrakov takes the fight into the clinch.
Cannon is trying to push Petrakov away but Petrakov has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Cannon pulls guard.
Petrakov trying to control the position from guard on top but Cannon is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Petrakov is pushing down on Cannon's leg trying to pass to half guard. Cannon is fighting to maintain full guard but Petrakov has managed to sneak the leg through.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cannon could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Petrakov lands a nice short elbow.

Cannon gets tackled into the cage by Petrakov. Petrakov maintains the clinch.
Petrakov is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Cannon gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Cannon has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Petrakov regains guard immediately.

Petrakov pushes Cannon off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Petrakov is trying to trip Cannon. He has hold of a leg but Cannon is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Petrakov persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Petrakov is looking to work some ground and pound but Cannon has wrist control.

Petrakov must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Petrakov is looking to pass into half guard but Cannon pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Cannon is in guard.

Petrakov has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Cannon is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Petrakov.

Cannon working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
A lull in the action here.

Cannon decides to stand back up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Cannon takes a swing at Petrakov's ribcage but misses.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Vladimir Petrakov will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Petrakov closes the distance and pushes Cannon back into the cage.
Cannon wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Petrakov shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Cannon throws a big counter combination but Petrakov scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Cannon is trying to break the clinch but Petrakov is controlling him.

Cannon escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Cannon throws a sloppy head kick and Petrakov moves out of range easily.
Cannon bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Nice takedown defense from Cannon. No joy for Petrakov on that attempt.
Vladimir Petrakov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cannon misses with a low kick as Petrakov jumps back.
Gaylord Cannon is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Cannon swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Petrakov moves into the clinch.
Cannon wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Cannon is looking for a takedown.
Cannon has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Cannon is trying to force a seperation but Petrakov has the dominant position.

Cannon is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Petrakov shoots in looking for a takedown. Cannon tries to sprawl out of it but Petrakov keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Cannon manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Cannon tries to circle away but Petrakov has him pinned against the cage.
Cannon tries for a takedown but Petrakov manages to get underhooks.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cannon has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Petrakov throws a wild body kick that Cannon sees coming a mile off.

Petrakov has closed the distance and engaged Cannon in a clinch.

Cannon throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Petrakov blocks it with crossed arms.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Petrakov tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Cannon avoids it.

Cannon escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Petrakov uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Cannon.
Cannon throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Petrakov shoots for a double leg takedown but Cannon sprawls well. He's pushed Petrakov's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Cannon swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Petrakov tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Cannon swivels and escapes.
Petrakov on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Cannon throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Petrakov looks to land a body kick but Cannon moved away.
Cannon lands the left hand.
Cannon has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.

Petrakov is trying to maintain a safe position but Cannon gets an underhook and turns Petrakov into the cage.

Cannon is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Petrakov has his foot on Cannon's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Cannon works his way back into a safe position though.

I would just about give that final round to Vladimir Petrakov.
I think Petrakov has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
