Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Max Hyde (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Appleseed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Appleseed fails with a takedown attempt.

Appleseed shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hyde tries to lock up and control but Appleseed gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Appleseed is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

Appleseed shoots in and bounces Hyde off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Hyde looking for a guillotine here but Appleseed defends easily.

Appleseed slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Appleseed gets to his feet. Hyde looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Appleseed tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hyde swivels and escapes.
As Appleseed looks to move away, Hyde throws a big counter combo bu Appleseed just gets out of the way.

Appleseed has closed the distance and engaged Hyde in a clinch.

Appleseed breaks from the clinch.

Appleseed changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hyde looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Appleseed wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hyde, who protects the arm well.

Appleseed goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Hyde rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Appleseed's guard! Nice work there by Hyde!

Hyde drops back, looking for a kneebar! Appleseed looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Appleseed looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Appleseed!
Appleseed wants to stand but Hyde has him controlled and pulls him back into his guard.
Hyde preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Appleseed stands and throws Hyde's legs to the side, diving into side control.
You can see the frustration on Hyde's face as Appleseed controls the position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Appleseed is looking for a kimura but Hyde is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Appleseed to get the leverage.
Hyde is trying to get back to full guard.

Hyde tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Johnny Appleseed dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Hyde tries for a takedown but Appleseed sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Appleseed throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Hyde on the side of the head.

Appleseed sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Hyde's guard.

Appleseed decides to return to a standing position.
Johnny Appleseed is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Appleseed shoots in but Hyde avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Appleseed is breathing heavily.
Appleseed misses with a straight left.

Appleseed has taken the fight to the clinch.

Hyde breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Hyde.
Johnny Appleseed seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ouch! a nice leg kick from Appleseed, right into the meat.
Appleseed throws a left and a right that both miss

and Hyde counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Hyde.

Hyde has gone for a leg lock! Appleseed slips out almost immediately though and dives into Hyde's guard.

Hyde wants to stand and escape but Appleseed is having none of it.

Appleseed trying to control but Hyde is working from the bottom.
Hyde really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Appleseed is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Hyde controls Appleseed momentarily but Appleseed frees himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Appleseed is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Hyde wants to sweep here but Appleseed controlling him for the moment.
Appleseed controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Appleseed would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Johnny Appleseed has got the better of the ground game so far.
Hyde bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Appleseed's guard.

Appleseed is working an open guard so Hyde takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

A close second round but Johnny Appleseed will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Appleseed will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
An attempted straight right counter from Hyde misses the target.
Hyde shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Appleseed pinned against the cage. Appleseed gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Appleseed misses with a hook. Hyde ducked under it nicely.
Hyde tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Appleseed manages to circle out of the way.

Appleseed throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Hyde.
Hyde tries to score a power double leg takedown but Appleseed sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hyde somewhat.
A little jabbing left from Appleseed on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Max Hyde. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Hyde bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Hyde will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Hyde wants to control for a moment but Appleseed uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.

Hyde is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Hyde is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Hyde is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Appleseed doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Hyde.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Hyde escapes and gets back to his feet.

Appleseed shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Hyde napping and manages to drive through into side control!

I would just about give that final round to Johnny Appleseed.
Well Appleseed has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
