Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Aaltje Klinjsma!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Illya Tyunina and Igor Prikhodko.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Briggs throws a right hand that Klinjsma ducks under and follows up with a left that Klinjsma also avoids with ease.
No luck for Klinjsma with that takedown attempt.
Klinjsma throws a body kick that misses.

and Briggs counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Briggs enables Klinjsma to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Briggs manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Briggs has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Klinjsma drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Klinjsma jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Klinjsma goes for a double leg but Briggs avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the ropes as Briggs continues to drive forward.
Jax Briggs has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Aaltje Klinjsma.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Klinjsma avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Briggs just misses with a punch to the body.
Klinjsma tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Jax Briggs seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Klinjsma shoots in looking for a takedown but Briggs manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Klinjsma's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Briggs clobbers Klinjsma with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

It looks like Aaltje Klinjsma has been cut.
Briggs postures up, still in guard. A huge hammer fist lands that bounces Klinjsma's head off the mat! Klinjsma is out! He's out! Briggs jumps to his feet and celebrates with his corner!
