Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Reggie Marlow!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Darren Martin!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Ben Hemmingworth and Darius Henderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marlow stuffs the takedown attempt from Martin. Martin gets slowly back to his feet.
Marlow throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Marlow tries to clinch there but Martin circles away.
Marlow has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Marlow moves in looking to clinch but Martin pushes him off.
Marlow is looking to clinch but Martin is avoiding it.
A countering left hand to the body from Martin misses.
Martin shoots in for a takedown but Marlow shows good takedown defense.
Martin shoots in for a double leg but Marlow sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Reggie Marlow has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Darren Martin.
Martin looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Martin blocks a head kick by Marlow.
Martin was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Marlow closes the distance and clinches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Martin jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Marlow walks away with a smile on his face. Martin gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Marlow throws a head kick that misses.
Marlow throws a sloppy head kick and Martin moves out of range easily.
Martin tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Marlow swivels and escapes.
Martin steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Marlow. That one must have hurt.
Martin looks winded!
That's one minute gone in the round.
Marlow lands a big head kick that sends Martin tumbling to the mat! Marlow takes a step backwards and waves Martin back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Martin is rocked!
It looks like Darren Martin has been cut.
Marlow looks for a left high kick but can't connect. Marlow backs up to catch a breather... no he lunges forward with a huge flying knee that smacks Martin's temple! It sends Martin violently to the canvas! The crowd goes nuts as Marlow celebrates and the doctors try to help Martin!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:12 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Flying Knee). Reggie Marlow!
An out of breath and clearly excited Reggie Marlow thanked Voodoo Nutrition for their help and support (and free stuff they sent him).
