Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Maxwell Leach (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Tipenroff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mike Tipenroff has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Maxwell Leach!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mike Tipenroff!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Russell Pearce and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tipenroff motions for Leach to come forward. Tipenroff throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Leach with a lazy takedown attempt

and Tipenroff holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Leach fails to pull guard.

Leach breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A nice combination there by Tipenroff.
Tipenroff throws a wild body kick that Leach sees coming a mile off.

Tipenroff shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Leach manages to escape and get back to his feet.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Tipenroff closes the distance and clinches.
Leach is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Tipenroff gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Maxwell Leach. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Leach has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Tipenroff uses from the top position.

Tipenroff wants to pass the guard but Leach is keeping the position.
Tipenroff slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Leach is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Tipenroff slows the pace down in half guard.
Leach wants to improve his position but Tipenroff is controlling well.

Leach really is a fat lump.
Leach is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Tipenroff's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Tipenroff's back!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tipenroff wants to get back to his feet.
Tipenroff breaks Leach's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Tipenroff postures up and lands a big shot to Leach's brow.

Tipenroff is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Tipenroff stopping the sweep attempt from Leach.
Tipenroff trying to control but Leach is working from the bottom.
Leach utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Tipenroff not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Tipenroff must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Leach is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Tipenroff is trying to control but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Leach slips a nice elbow through Tipenroff's hands, connecting with Tipenroff's forehead.
Tipenroff looks like he's trying to stand up.
Tipenroff has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Leach is working away from the top position though.
Leach winds up and cracks Tipenroff with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Leach passes into side control, despite Tipenroff's attempt to control the position.
Tipenroff dodges the ground and pound from Leach.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Mike Tipenroff will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Tipenroff throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Tipenroff closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Leach did well to prevent Tipenroff getting side control.

Leach manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Mike Tipenroff seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Tipenroff has Leach up against the cage in a clinch.
Leach tries to pull guard but Tipenroff forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Leach escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Tipenroff scores with a one two! Leach had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Tipenroff has Leach up against the cage in a clinch.
Leach jumps guard but Tipenroff stands there with Leach around his waist. Leach gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Leach escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Leach gets caught napping as Tipenroff dives in and scores a takedown. Leach manages to retain guard.
Tipenroff trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Leach might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Tipenroff throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Leach works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Tipenroff decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Leach, up you get!

Tipenroff has taken the fight to the clinch.
Leach tries to pull guard but Tipenroff won't allow it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Maxwell Leach. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Tipenroff lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Tipenroff wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Leach fails to pull guard.
Leach tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Tipenroff just stands there and leans against the cage.
Leach is trying to drag Tipenroff to the mat but Tipenroff just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Leach is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Tipenroff is defending well.

Leach has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Tipenroff uses from the top position.

Leach is working an open guard so Tipenroff takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Tipenroff. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Tipenroff drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Tipenroff fails to land a wild elbow strike.

Tipenroff throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Tipenroff misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Tipenroff controls the position.
Tipenroff trying to control the position but Leach is working away.
Leach looking for a sweep but Tipenroff has passed into full mount! Oh no!

Tipenroff is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Leach has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Leach!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Tipenroff looking to hit a scissor sweep but Leach is one step ahead there.
Tipenroff is adopting a defensive guard.
Tipenroff wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Leach is now in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mike Tipenroff showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Tipenroff closes the distance and pushes Leach back into the cage.

Leach dives in and scores a takedown into Tipenroff's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Leach accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Tipenroff is staying active underneath Leach, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Tipenroff misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Tipenroff wants to get back to full guard.
Leach prevents Tipenroff from standing back up.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Leach missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Tipenroff moves into range and clinches up with Leach.

Leach manages to break the clinch.

Leach tries to keep at a distance but Tipenroff has taken the fight into the clinch.
Leach fails to pull guard.

Leach blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Leach prevents Tipenroff from breaking the clinch.

Leach breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Tipenroff.
Tipenroff scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Tipenroff changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Leach looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Tipenroff takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Leach is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Tipenroff's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Leach is defending against the submission attempts here by Tipenroff.
Maxwell Leach overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Leach is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Leach trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Leach can't escape the position.
Leach is working hard here to advance position.
You get the feeling that Leach really doesn't like being in this position too much.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Leach avoids a series of strikes thrown by Tipenroff.
Tipenroff lands a nice shot to the head.
Tipenroff throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Tipenroff wants to control the pace but Leach is squirming around nicely.
Poor strikes thrown by Tipenroff there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Tipenroff has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Leach tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Leach sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Leach is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Tipenroff's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Tipenroff's back!
Maxwell Leach has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Mike Tipenroff is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

I would just about give that final round to Mike Tipenroff.
I've got Tipenroff winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
