Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Alex John!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kevin Carmichael!
The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Sandra Marshall and Bart Greer.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carmichael avoids a kick to the body.
Carmichael throws out a leg kick but John moves out of range and Carmichael only half commits.
Carmichael delivers a nice body kick.
John instigates a clinch.
Carmichael struggles to land a body shot inside as John controls his hands.
Carmichael lands a body shot in the clinch.
John jumps guard but Carmichael stands there with John around his waist. John gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
John pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Carmichael digs a good body shot into John's ribs.
Carmichael avoids the head kick by John.
John throws a shot from downtown. Carmichael moves away and avoids it.
A chopping leg kick lands by Carmichael.
John definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
John tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Carmichael manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
A countering left hand to the body from Carmichael misses.
John wants to clinch up but Carmichael keeps it at a distance.
John throws a sloppy head kick and Carmichael moves out of range easily.
Carmichael lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
John wants to clinch.
Carmichael with a jab.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Carmichael lands a leg kick that knocks John off balance momentarily.
John fails to land the takedown.
Carmichael now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
John closes the distance and clinches up with Carmichael, looking for a takedown. John pushes Carmichael against the cage but Carmichael circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
A little jabbing left from Carmichael on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alex John. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Carmichael tries a head kick but it misses.
A left and a right from Carmichael both land. Nice combination.
Nice shot by Carmichael.
A right-left combo lands from Carmichael.
John is rocked!
John throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Oh John is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
John throws a hook to the side of Carmichael's head but Carmichael sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
John seems to have got his legs back now.
The fight stays on the outside here - John looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Carmichael moves into range and connects with a jab.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Carmichael scoring well with a low kick there.
Carmichael jabs at John's body.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Carmichael slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
No luck for John with that takedown attempt.
John tries to clinch up.
Carmichael keeps the fight on the outside.
John throws a shot to the body.
John misses with a body shot.
John misses the jab.
Carmichael avoids the body shot from John.
Nice jab there from Carmichael.
John takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Carmichael throws a head kick that misses.
John is looking for a counter combo.
Kevin Carmichael is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Carmichael leaves John with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Carmichael cracks John with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends John tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Carmichael pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! John is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kevin Carmichael!
