Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Hardy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ragnar Rage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marcus Hardy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ragnar Rage!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Jonathan Paton and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rage wants to clinch
and Hardy counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
A shot to the liver by Hardy. Beautiful body shot.
Rage takes one to the side of the head.
Rage tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hardy was well out of range. Poor timing from Rage.

Rage manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Hardy on his heels. He'll look to pass Hardy's guard now, I'm sure.

Rage wants to control from the top but Hardy keeps moving.
Rage slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
You can see the frustration on Hardy's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Hardy is trying to control Rage's posture but Rage avoids it.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Rage gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
enabling Hardy to counter with a crisp jab.
Rage darts in looking for a takedown but Hardy gets double underhooks and turns Rage into the cage.
Hardy tries to counter with a takedown but Rage is quick to defend against it.
Rage closes the distance and clinches up with Hardy, looking for a takedown. Rage pushes Hardy against the cage but Hardy circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Marcus Hardy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ragnar Rage.
Hardy lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Rage backs up against the cage.
Hardy throws a body punch but Rage moves out of range.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Rage is defended easily by Hardy.
The fight stays on the outside here - Rage looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

and Hardy counters with a nice double leg into side control. Rage won't be happy with that.

Rage is trying to get back to half guard.
Hardy lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Rage down.
Rage tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Hardy wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Hardy is looking to take a break and control but Rage is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
We've been hearing that Hardy has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Rage takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Rage really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hardy. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Hardy is working Rage over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Marcus Hardy overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Rage bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hardy's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hardy has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Rage makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Rage looking to sit in guard and control but Hardy gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Ragnar Rage spoke after the fight, saying 'Ya know... i've had a lot of downs since I started in this sport... But we always get back up. I promise that I will learn from this, train hard and get back up... i'm sorry to the fans i have let down and hope you will give me a chance to redeem myself.'.
