PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tomas Hruska (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Uriel Dias (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Uriel Dias will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tomas Hruska!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Uriel Dias!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Felipe Paraventi and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dias throws a series of punches but Hruska avoids them all with ease.
Dias fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Hruska throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Dias misses with a takedown attempt - Hruska sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Dias closes the distance and clinches up with Hruska, looking for a takedown. Dias pushes Hruska against the cage but Hruska circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Tomas Hruska has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Uriel Dias.

Dias tries for a takedown. No joy.
Hruska gets underhooks to prevent Dias's takedown attempt.
Hruska is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Dias is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hruska has Dias pushed against the cage.

Hruska's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Hruska shoots in for a takedown but Dias shows good takedown defense.

Good work by Hruska as he checks the leg kick.
Hruska shoots in for a double leg but Dias sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Hruska tries to score a power double leg takedown but Dias sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hruska somewhat.

Dias letting Hruska take a breather here.
Dias is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Hruska gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

It looks like Uriel Dias has been cut.

Hruska pulls Dias into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hruska has control of Dias's left arm, preventing Dias from doing any damage.

Hruska working for a triangle but Dias defends it easily.
Hruska will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Dias drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Hruska manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Dias has Hruska in his guard.

Hruska passes Dias's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Hruska throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Hruska trying to advance position but Dias counters by regaining guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hruska seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Hruska lands with a thumping leg kick.
Hruska shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Dias defends it nicely.
Dias tries to counter with a clinch but Hruska shakes him off and moves away.
Horrible takedown attempt by Hruska or perhaps it was just good defense by Dias, which made it look bad.
Hruska is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Dias can do to turn this around?

Hruska gets caught flat footed, as Dias shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hruska pulls Dias in close to prevent any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dias drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Dias jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Dias thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Hruska is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Hruska holds on and takes a little breather.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Hruska wants to sweep here but Dias controlling him for the moment.
Hruska looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hruska bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Dias's guard.

Dias working for a triangle but Hruska defends it easily.

Dias is looking to cinch up a triangle. Hruska throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Dias's body to avoid the submission. Dias has instead reached around Hruska's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Dias arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Uriel Dias!
