Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Roland Steele (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Petr Smirnov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Roland Steele had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Roland Steele!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Petr Smirnov!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Konstantin Menshow and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steele stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Steele wants it to stay on the feet.
Smirnov throws a lazy uppercut

and Steele counters with a nice double leg into side control. Smirnov won't be happy with that.

Smirnov sneaks out the side door and pushes Steele away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

and Steele decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Smirnov's guard.

Steele is looking to work some ground and pound but Smirnov has wrist control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Steele would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Steele really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Smirnov is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Steele scores with a couple of nice shots.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Steele feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Smirnov will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Steele manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Smirnov on his heels. He'll look to pass Smirnov's guard now, I'm sure.

Smirnov wants to stand and escape. He's got his foot on Steele's hips, looking to push off. But Steele grabs a hold of the leg and drops back for an ankle lock! It's hard to tell if he's got it. Both fighters look composed - OH, not anymore they don't! Smirnov screams like a kid who's trapped his fingers in the car door and taps out! Yikes, that must have hurt - hopefully it's not snapped anything!
