PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jesse Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yuki Masakazu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Masakazu has chosen Sepultura - Attitude as his entrance music. Jesse Jones has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jesse Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Yuki Masakazu!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Paul Tew and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Masakazu shoots in looking for a takedown. Jones tries to sprawl out of it but Masakazu keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Jones manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Jones bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Jones tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Jones has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Masakazu manages to get back to half guard.
Masakazu is staying active underneath Jones, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Jones knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Masakazu on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Masakazu looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Masakazu gets full guard.

Masakazu working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jones doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jones manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Masakazu had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Jones defends it easily.

Masakazu is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Jones wants to control from the top but Masakazu keeps moving.

Masakazu has his foot on Jones's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jones works his way back into a safe position though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Jones throws a big elbow that misses.

Masakazu is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Jones defends well.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

Jones is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Masakazu has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Jones is looking to defend but Masakazu has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Jones! Masakazu pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Jones taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Yuki Masakazu!
Post fight, Yuki Masakazu stared into the camera and said 'I'd like to thank my Jiu Jitsu teachers Shinya Aoki and Masakazu Imanari, I couldn't of done this without them!'.
