Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jerome Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dj Yetto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jerome Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dj Yetto!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yetto shoots in looking for a takedown. Smith tries to sprawl out of it but Yetto keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Smith manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Smith clinches.
Yetto stalls.
Smith trying to land knees to the body.
Yetto lands a nice shot to the body.

Smith manages to break the clinch.

Smith decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Smith sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Smith has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Smith not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Smith stands up and beckons Yetto to join him on the feet.

Yetto gets the takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Yetto is looking to take a break and control but Smith is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Check out the look on Yetto's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Smith tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Yetto wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Smith is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now.
Yetto wants to take a breather but Smith manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Yetto.
Smith might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Smith pulls Yetto in close to his closed guard and prevents Yetto from doing any damage or advancing position.
Smith wants to sweep but no luck.
Smith looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Smith's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Smith trying to keep a closed guard but Yetto is proving a slippery customer.
Smith could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Yetto won't allow Smith to sweep him here.
Yetto trying to control but Smith is working from the bottom.
Smith is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Yetto tries to free his leg and advance position but Smith is retaining full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Smith moves in looking to clinch but Yetto pushes him off.
Smith tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Smith looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Yetto is fending him off so far but Smith persists. Nope, Yetto circles away and we're back to standing.
Smith is breathing heavily.
Yetto tries to clinch up.
Yetto keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Smith blocks the body kick.
Smith shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Yetto counters with a takedown into side control.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jerome Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Yetto trying to control the action but Smith is working from the bottom.
An elbow from Yetto crashes against the mat.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Dj Yetto will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Yetto thuds a left hand into Smith's body.

so Smith counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Yetto looking to control.
Yetto wants to sweep here but Smith controlling him for the moment.
Yetto is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Yetto trying to keep a closed guard but Smith is proving a slippery customer.
Yetto has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Yetto is trying to keep Smith in close.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Smith controlling from the top position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Yetto closes the distance and clinches.
Yetto effectively controlling the action here.
Yetto wants to get back to striking at distance but Smith won't allow it.
Smith is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Yetto pulls him back up using the underhooks.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Yetto goes for a takedown attempt but Smith pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Yetto looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Smith wants to clinch.
Smith shoots in for a takedown but Yetto shows good takedown defense.
Yetto checks a leg kick.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Yetto.
Jerome Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dj Yetto.
Smith tries to clinch there but Yetto circles away.

Yetto misses with a takedown attempt - Smith sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Yetto throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Smith's waist but Smith gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Yetto off to one side.

Smith closes the distance and clinches.

Smith has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Yetto uses from the top position.

Yetto wants to stand but Smith is controlling his posture from full guard.
Smith bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Yetto's guard.

Smith stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Yetto swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jerome Smith dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Smith drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Yetto breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Smith gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Yetto trying to control but Smith is working from the bottom.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Smith controlling the position.

Yetto wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving.
Smith is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Yetto controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Smith holds on and takes a little breather.
Yetto scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Yetto with a flurry of punches that miss.
Yetto wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving.
Jerome Smith overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Smith misses with a takedown attempt
and Yetto counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Yetto connects with a solid leg kick.
Yetto shoots in and drives through. Smith sprawls well.

Yetto fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Yetto shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Smith but Smith pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Jerome Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dj Yetto.
Smith swats away the attempt to clinch by Yetto.

Smith controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Yetto is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Smith is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Smith in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Yetto is trying to control the position but Smith postures up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Yetto bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Smith's guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jerome Smith.
I think Smith has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
