Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Akira Kojima (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Capanga Junior (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Akira Kojima has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Akira Kojima!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Capanga Junior!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Shirou Masuda and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Junior with a poor takedown
and Kojima counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Junior gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Kojima controls from within his opponent's guard.
Junior tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Kojima loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Junior is trying to keep Kojima in close.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kojima tries to free his leg and advance position but Junior is retaining full guard.

Kojima fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Junior avoids it really well and circles away.
Kojima tries to score a power double leg takedown but Junior sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kojima somewhat.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Junior slaps away a takedown attempt from Kojima, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Junior steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Kojima.

and Kojima cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Kojima closes the distance and clinches up with Junior, looking for a takedown. Kojima pushes Junior against the cage but Junior circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Junior leaves Kojima with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Kojima cracks Junior with a right hand to the side of the head.
Junior closes the distance and clinches up with Kojima, looking for a takedown. Junior pushes Kojima against the cage but Kojima circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Kojima shoots in but no luck this time.
Kojima dives in for a single leg takedown but Junior sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Nice takedown defense from Kojima. No joy for Junior on that attempt.
Kojima shoots in but no luck this time.
Kojima shoots in for a takedown but Junior shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Kojima is defended easily by Junior.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Junior can do anything to dispel that myth.

Junior takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Kojima is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Junior has escaped the position, nice work there.

Kojima goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Junior has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Kojima but great work by Junior.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Kojima is looking for a sweep.

You can see the frustration on Kojima's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Kojima has hold of Junior's hands but Junior slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Junior working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Kojima shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Junior pinned against the cage. Junior gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Junior has Kojima pressed against the cage, preventing Kojima from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Junior is trying to drag Kojima to the mat but Kojima just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Kojima looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Junior is fending him off so far but Kojima persists. Nope, Junior circles away and we're back to standing.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Junior tries to buck Kojima off but Kojima is having none of it.
Kojima wants to stand but Junior is controlling his arm.
You can see the frustration on Junior's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Junior takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Kojima tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kojima has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Kojima stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Kojima dives in and grabs Junior's left leg, looking for a takedown. Junior pushes down on Kojima's head and hops out.
Junior is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Junior fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Kojima misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Junior shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kojima as he avoids it easily.

Kojima misses with a takedown attempt - Junior sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Kojima definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Junior takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Capanga Junior seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kojima, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
