Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Luigi Bates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Better Dead (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dead has chosen Better off Dead as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dead swings for the body but Bates moves out of range.
Dead tries to move into range but Bates moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Dead lands with an overhand left.
Dead uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Bates.
Bates checks a leg kick nicely.
We've been hearing reports that Bates has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Dead stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Dead feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Bates sprawling to the canvas! Bates rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Dead finish him?!

Bates is rocked!

It looks like Luigi Bates has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Dead tries a head kick but it misses.
Oh Bates is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Dead pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Bates avoids the head kick by Dead.
Bates seems to have got his legs back now.

Bates shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Dead napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Dead is looking for a sweep.
Dead really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bates. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Bates tries for a kimura but Dead is defending well.
Bates controlling the position from side mount.

Bates looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Bates trying to control the position but Dead is working away.
Dead wants to get back to his feet but Bates drags him back down.

Bates goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Dead rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Bates's guard! Nice work there by Dead!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Bates trying to control the position.
Dead must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Dead not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Bates has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Bates tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dead trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Bates is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Dead misses with a double jab
and Bates counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Bates shoots in for a takedown but Dead shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Dead throws out a loose jab but Bates uses good head movement to avoid it.
Dead sizes up Bates with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Dead lands with a right hand.
Dead looks to land a right hand but Bates moved out of range.

Dead gets caught flat footed, as Bates shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Dead pushes Bates off and gets back to his feet.
Better Dead is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Bates ducks under a wild hook from Dead.
Dead misses with a series of wild punches.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Dead throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Dead tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Dead misses the jab.
Bates connects with a right hand. Dead shakes it off.
Nice takedown defense from Dead. No joy for Bates on that attempt.

Bates shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Dead manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Dead is looking to stand up but Bates isn't so interested in that idea.

Dead can't keep his opponent in guard - Bates advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Bates trying to pass the guard but Dead defending well.
Dead is trying to control but Bates passes into side control!
I wouldn't like to be where Dead is right now.
Bates prevents Dead from escaping the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Better Dead dominated that round.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Dead ducks right into an uppercut from Bates.
No luck for Bates with that takedown attempt.
Dead feints a counter leg kick.

Oooooh!!! Dead has knocked Bates down with a huge combo! Dead steps away and waves a wobbly Bates back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Better Dead seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Bates fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Dead manages to avoid it.
A head kick misses from Dead.
Dead Rushes Bates and starts throwing punches like they are going out of style! Bates is up against the cage and has nowhere to go. Dead Piles on the pressure and Bates crumples to the floor! This one is all over!
