Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Barton Rhodes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frederic Gunines (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Frederic Gunines!
The judges for this bout are Darius Henderson, Topper Green and Ron Honeybunn.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rhodes gets caught napping as Gunines dives in and scores a takedown. Rhodes manages to retain guard.
Gunines controlling from the top position.
Gunines trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Rhodes wants to sweep here but Gunines controlling him for the moment.
Gunines is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Rhodes is trying to keep Gunines in close.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gunines engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Rhodes manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Gunines manages to get himself to full guard.

Gunines bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rhodes's guard.
Gunines sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Gunines is pushing down on Rhodes's leg trying to pass to half guard. Rhodes is fighting to maintain full guard but Gunines has managed to sneak the leg through.
Gunines is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Gunines is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Rhodes defends it well.
Still in half guard, Gunines seems content to control.

Rhodes is looking for a sweep. Gunines is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

It looks like Gunines might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Gunines tries to pass the half guard into mount. Rhodes knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Gunines is taking a breather. Rhodes says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Gunines's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Rhodes wants to improve his position but Gunines is controlling well.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Gunines closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Rhodes is trying to get back to full guard.
Gunines takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Rhodes is breathing heavily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Gunines has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rhodes tries to sprawl but Gunines drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Gunines has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Rhodes is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Gunines closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Rhodes quickly recovers to half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Gunines content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Gunines is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Rhodes tries to improve his position but Gunines has taken his back! Gunines has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Rhodes tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Gunines pushes Rhodes away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
