Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sydney Odom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gigi Catalano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gigi Catalano has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Odom drives through with a takedown into Catalano's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Odom got a little sloppy there for a moment and Catalano has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Odom has managed to get both his arms back between Catalano's legs - danger averted.

Catalano is looking for a triangle but Odom pushes his legs off easily.

Odom stands and steps away. Catalano gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Catalano dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Odom. That did some damage!
Odom shoots in for a double leg but Catalano sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A decent looking cross lands there for Catalano.

Odom closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Odom lands in his opponent's guard.

Odom's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Odom gets to his feet - Catalano follows without any prompting.
Catalano clobbers Odom with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Catalano cracks Odom with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Catalano will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Catalano takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Odom takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Odom darts in looking for a takedown but Catalano gets double underhooks and turns Odom into the cage.
A little jabbing left from Catalano on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sydney Odom. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Catalano catches Odom with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Odom shoots in and bounces Catalano off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Catalano wants to get back to his feet but Odom passes into half guard.
Odom perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Catalano digs a good body shot into Odom's ribs.
Odom walks into a straight right hand from Catalano.
Catalano is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Odom had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Catalano lands with a hook. Odom tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
A jab from Catalano finds it's way through Odom's defenses.
Catalano lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Catalano digs a good body shot into Odom's ribs.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Catalano scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Good standup being displayed there by Catalano as he connects with a hook.
Oh Odom is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Catalano has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Catalano moves into the clinch.

Catalano creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Odom with a big uppercut! Odom tries to clinch up but Catalano pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples Odom to the mat! Odom covers up and Catalano unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
