Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Xander Mason!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Giovane Pires!
The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Winston Alpacca and Sandra Marshall.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pires throws a leg kick that misses.
Mason tried to counter with a leg kick but Pires avoided it.
Mason looks to land a combination but Pires avoids it well.
Pires finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Mason throws a head kick but Pires moves out of range.
Pires wants to counter with a clinch but Mason pushes him away.
Pires misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
A little feinted left hand from Mason on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Mason cracks the inside of Pires's front leg.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Mason avoids a wild elbow strike from Pires.

Pires drags the fight down to the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mason throws a big right hand that misses.
Pires wants to stand up but Mason is controlling him.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pires wants to get back to his feet but Mason passes into half guard.
Mason prevents Pires from improving his position.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Pires is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Mason misses with a lunging right hand

and Pires holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Pires tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Pires lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Mason is trying to break the clinch but Pires is controlling him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pires holding his opponent close, against the cage.

Pires breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Pires gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Mason.
Pires is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
A thudding body kick lands there by Mason!
Pires goes for a double leg but Mason avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Mason continues to drive forward.
Pires shoots in for a double leg but Mason sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Pires looks winded!
Mason fails to land with a series of punches.
Pires tries for a takedown but Mason circles away easily
and Mason counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Mason looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Xander Mason has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Giovane Pires.

Mason connects with the punch.
Mason connects with a right hand. Pires shakes it off.

Pires is rocked!
Mason ducks down into range and throws a picture perfect right hook that connects with Pires's jaw. Pires's eyes stare off into space as he falls to the mat, out cold! Mason does the decent thing and steps back, rather than landing any shots to his unconscious opponent.
