PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Masaru Shimabukuro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and To Hak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Shimabukuro might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Warrior. Masaru Shimabukuro could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to To Hak's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Masaru Shimabukuro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, To Hak!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Shigeki Sano and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shimabukuro scores with a nice body kick.
Shimabukuro on the wrong end of a nice hook.
That kick from Hak tenderised Shimabukuro's leg. Shimabukuro is trying to keep his angry face on.
Hak misses with a hook.
Shimabukuro throws a right and a left that Hak avoids nicely.
Hak throws a head kick that misses.
Shimabukuro jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
A right-left combo lands from Shimabukuro.
Shimabukuro scoring well with a low kick there.
Hak misses with a series of wild punches.
Hak throws a wild body kick that Shimabukuro sees coming a mile off.
Hak lands a leg kick that knocks Shimabukuro off balance momentarily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hak turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Shimabukuro scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Shimabukuro throws a nice looking combination but Hak bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Hak attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Shimabukuro on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Hak. Hak obviously looking to wear him down.
Shimabukuro swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Hak.

Hak lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Hak misses with a leg kick.
Shimabukuro thows a body kick. Hak tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Hak fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Hak looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Good leg kick by Hak there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Shimabukuro looks to land a body kick but Hak moved away.
Hak wants to counter the offense by Shimabukuro and move into the clinch position.
Shimabukuro fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Hak on the side of the head.
Shimabukuro moves away from the strike by Hak.
Shimabukuro misses with an uppercut.

Hak gets a clinch.
Hak tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Hak stalling in the clinch.
Shimabukuro wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Hak has him pressed against the cage.
Hak has Shimabukuro pressed against the cage, preventing Shimabukuro from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Hak breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Shimabukuro throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Hak lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Shimabukuro throws a sloppy head kick and Hak moves out of range easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Shimabukuro throws a right hand that Hak ducks under and follows up with a left that Hak also avoids with ease.
Shimabukuro on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Shimabukuro takes a swing at Hak's ribcage but misses.
Shimabukuro lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Hak, as that shot connected.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Hak checks a leg kick.
Shimabukuro throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Hak throws a low kick but Shimabukuro avoids it.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Hak.
Hak cracks the inside of Shimabukuro's front leg.
Shimabukuro moves forwards but Hak connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Shimabukuro uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Hak connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Hak throws a low kick, looking for Shimabukuro's leg but Shimabukuro calmly moves out of range.
Shimabukuro appears to be looking for a big counter.
Hak lands a jab.
Hak tries a head kick but it misses.
Hak fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Shimabukuro checks it well.
Shimabukuro throws a head kick but Hak moves out of range.
Hak wants to counter with a clinch but Shimabukuro pushes him away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Shimabukuro throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Hak.
No joy there for Shimabukuro, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Hak avoids a kick to the body.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Hak lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Shimabukuro has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Shimabukuro and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

and Hak counters by moving into the clinch.
Shimabukuro wants to get back to striking at distance but Hak won't allow it.
Shimabukuro can't break the clinch.
Hak will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Shimabukuro up against the cage.
Hak lands with a short shot to the head.

Shimabukuro manages to break the clinch.
Hak keeps Shimabukuro at a distance using the push kick.
Hak throws a leg kick which misses Shimabukuro's front leg but catches the back leg as Shimabukuro tries to avoid it.
Hak blocks a head kick by Shimabukuro.
Shimabukuro lets loose with a powerful body kick. Hak will feel that in the morning.
Hak slips a jab from Shimabukuro.
Hak defending well as Shimabukuro loads up on a big left hand.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Shimabukuro goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hak fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Shimabukuro is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Hak's corner calls for a 1-2. Hak obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Hak throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Shimabukuro swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Shimabukuro takes a jab right on the kisser.
Shimabukuro moves out of range of the leg kick from Hak.
Hak keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

Shimabukuro slips a straight right by Hak.
Shimabukuro connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Shimabukuro takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Shimabukuro chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Hak can pounce on him.
Masaru Shimabukuro seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hak throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Hak throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Shimabukuro throws a body kick that misses.
Hak misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but To Hak will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action!

Hak lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Hak throws a head punch that misses.
Hak's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Hak pushes Shimabukuro back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Shimabukuro is rocked!
Hak misses with some punches.
Oh Shimabukuro is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Hak's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Hak is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Hak.
Shimabukuro takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Hak walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Shimabukuro drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Hak swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Shimabukuro's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). To Hak!
