Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Connor Pappas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Reed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Reed has chosen Hash pipe as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Connor Pappas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, David Reed!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Konstantin Menshow and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pappas shoots in but no luck this time.
David Reed seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Reed clinches with his opponent.
Reed tries a knee to the head but Pappas blocks it.
Pappas takes an elbow to the forehead.
With the fighters up against the cage, Reed throws an elbow but misses.
Reed throws a knee to the head but misses.
Reed tries to land knees in the clinch but Pappas avoids the damage to the body.
Reed lands a body shot.
Pappas blocks a body shot from Reed.
Reed lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
Pappas drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Reed gets the underhooks and prevents it.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pappas tries to score a body lock takedown but Reed shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Reed tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Reed tries to throw a body punch but Pappas avoids it by throwing Reed back against the cage.

A nice glancing elbow lands by Reed.

Pappas prevents a body shot from Reed.
Pappas changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Reed fights it off and pushes away nicely.
David Reed is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Pappas uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Reed.
Reed throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Pappas avoids the head kick by Reed.
Reed throws a head kick but Pappas moves out of range.
Pappas on the wrong end of a nice jab.

Pappas dives in for a single leg takedown but Reed sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Good standup being displayed there by Reed as he connects with a hook.
Pappas dodges the punch combination from Reed.
Pappas half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Reed looks for the body kick but Pappas saw that one coming.

Reed has taken the fight to the clinch.
Pappas prevents a body shot from Reed.
Pappas wants to take the fight to the mat but Reed manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Pappas blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Reed doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Reed is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
Reed lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Pappas is breathing heavily.
Reed scores with a shoulder strike.
Reed tries a body shot but Pappas blocks it.
Reed tries to throw a body punch but Pappas avoids it by throwing Reed back against the cage.

Pappas drops down looking for an ankle pick but Reed pulls his leg out and moves away.
Reed throws a quick inside leg kick.
Reed lands with a hook. Pappas tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Reed tries to close the distance and clinch up but Pappas swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Reed moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Reed throws a right hand that Pappas ducks under and follows up with a left that Pappas also avoids with ease.
Reed throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Pappas takes a kick to the side of the head.
Reed is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Reed closes the distance looking to clinch

and Pappas counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Reed!

Reed manages to get back to half guard.
Pappas working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
The fighters are battling for position here. Reed manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Reed wants to sweep but no luck.
Pappas pushes down on Reed's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Pappas lands strikes from half guard.
Reed regains full guard. Nicely done.
Reed looking to control.
Pappas working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Reed's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

David Reed dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Pappas moves away from the strike by Reed.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Reed pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Pappas keeps the fight on the outside.

Pappas closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Pappas blocks the strikes from Reed.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pappas working the ground and pound.
Reed takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
You can see the frustration on Reed's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Reed is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Pappas's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Reed won't allow Pappas to pass to mount.
Pappas is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Reed wants to get back to full guard.

Pappas has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Pappas cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Reed tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Pappas drops a big elbow. That's hurt Reed! More shots from Pappas and the ref steps in! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Connor Pappas!
David Reed spoke after the fight, saying 'I deserve that loss!'.
