The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kamei throws an overhand right that lands on Melo's shoulder, as Melo tries to avoid the shot.
Koichi Kamei seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Melo's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Kamei connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Melo scrambles back to his feet.
Kamei jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Kamei is looking to clinch.

Melo throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Kamei is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Melo has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Kamei is looking to defend but Melo has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Kamei! Melo pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Kamei taps out and this one is all over!

Renan Melo decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
