PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kevin MacDonald (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Seth Campbell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Campbell misses with a head kick.

MacDonald shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than MacDonald was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

MacDonald thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

MacDonald wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Campbell, who protects the arm well.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Check out the look on MacDonald's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Campbell is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Campbell really doesn't want to stay on the ground with MacDonald. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
MacDonald is putting a hurting on Campbell here, landing some big shots from side control.

MacDonald lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Campbell down.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Campbell throws MacDonald to one side and escapes!

Horrible takedown attempt by Campbell or perhaps it was just good defense by MacDonald, which made it look bad.

MacDonald has taken the fight to the clinch.
Campbell has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. MacDonald is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
MacDonald has Campbell pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Campbell manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Campbell's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Campbell shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says MacDonald as he avoids it easily.
Kevin MacDonald has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Seth Campbell.

MacDonald bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Campbell's guard.

MacDonald is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
MacDonald slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

MacDonald has hold of Campbell's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Campbell tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - MacDonald cranks the arm and Campbell screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Campbell, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
