Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Julio Cesar Chavez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Savinay Pillay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Chavez might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Best knockout ever!. Pillay has chosen Tere Bina as his entrance music. Savinay Pillay is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Julio Cesar Chavez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Savinay Pillay!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Alan Glass and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pillay cracks Chavez with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.


It looks like Julio Cesar Chavez has been cut.
Pillay swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Chavez closes the distance and clinches up with Pillay, looking for a takedown. Chavez pushes Pillay against the cage but Pillay circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Pillay fails with a takedown attempt.
Pillay uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
No luck for Pillay with that takedown attempt.
Chavez tries for a takedown but Pillay sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Savinay Pillay seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pillay will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Julio Cesar Chavez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Savinay Pillay.

Chavez seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Pillay does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Chavez won't allow Pillay to pass to mount.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Pillay will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Pillay shoots in but Chavez avoids the takedown attempt easily.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Chavez tries to clinch there but Pillay circles away.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Chavez wants to control from the top but Pillay keeps moving.

Pillay working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Chavez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Chavez manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

and Pillay counters with a three punch combo that has Chavez backing up. Chavez nods at Pillay to acknowledge the strikes.
Chavez tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Pillay paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Pillay throws a right and a left that Chavez avoids nicely.

Pillay throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pillay has hold of Chavez's hands but Chavez slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Chavez seems to be looking for submissions.

Pillay has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Chavez is working away from the top position though.

Chavez wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Chavez wants to stand up but Pillay is controlling him.

Pillay drops back looking for a leg! Chavez is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Chavez manages to kick Pillay off! Pillay jumps back into Chavez's guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Pillay swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Chavez moves into the clinch.

Pillay lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

That was a close second round but I would say that Julio Cesar Chavez will probably get the nod.

Savinay Pillay comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Pillay has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
