Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kevin Acosta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jericho Cane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Acosta's entrance music is Child of Burning Time by Slipknot. A fine choice. Cane is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Mustache: Double Nature. Kevin Acosta has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kevin Acosta!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jericho Cane!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Paulo Santos and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Acosta clinches up against the cage.

Acosta gets control of Cane's arms and successfully pulls guard. Acosta will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Acosta tries for a kimura but Cane is defending well.

Acosta will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Cane is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Acosta off and has taken his back!

Cane wants to finish this one by submission but Acosta is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Cane.

Cane looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Acosta has his hands clasped together around Cane's back. He's all about the action.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Acosta's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Acosta tries to clinch but Cane moves out of range.
Acosta shoots in but Cane avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Acosta tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Cane paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Acosta gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Cane drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Cane jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Cane drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Acosta is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Acosta escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Cane gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Cane tries to pass the half guard into mount. Acosta knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Acosta is on top in guard.
Acosta tries to free his leg and advance position but Cane is retaining full guard.

Cane has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Acosta can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Jericho Cane comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Acosta has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
