Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Quintin Day!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Nicko Shoota!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Shirou Masuda and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Day dives in for a single leg takedown but Shoota sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Day takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
No luck for Day with that takedown attempt.
Shoota lands an overhand right.


It looks like Quintin Day has been cut.
Day is trying hard to land a takedown here. Shoota sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Quintin Day. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Shoota has taken the fight to the clinch.

Shoota pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Shoota instigates a clinch.
Shoota is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Day manages to break the clinch.

Shoota clinches.
Shoota just leaning against Day, taking a breather.

Day gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Shoota regains guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Shoota is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Day is controlling him.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Shoota manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Day looking to throw knees to the head but Shoota is blocking nicely.
Day has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Shoota after a bit of a struggle.
Shoota has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Shoota has Day pressed against the cage, preventing Day from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Shoota breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Day is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Shoota.


Day is rocked!
I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Shoota has cracked Day with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Shoota lands another huge swinging hook and Day tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save Day, before Shoota can land any more shots!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Nicko Shoota!
An out of breath Nicko Shoota thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
