PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bruno Santoyo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andres Caicedo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Santoyo kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Bolor. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Bruno Santoyo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Andres Caicedo!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Atkins and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Caicedo gets a double leg takedown into Santoyo's guard.
Caicedo is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Santoyo is looking for a triangle but Caicedo pushes his legs off easily.
Caicedo pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Santoyo is keeping the position for now.
Caicedo slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Santoyo controlling the position.
Caicedo trying to control but Santoyo is working from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Santoyo holds on and takes a little breather.
Caicedo trying to stand up but can't free himself from Santoyo's guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Caicedo avoids a punch combination nicely.
Despite the aggression on Caicedo's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Santoyo throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Caicedo was covering up waiting for the punch and Santoyo finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Santoyo is looking to work some ground and pound but Caicedo has wrist control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Caicedo working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Santoyo.
Caicedo not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Caicedo seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Caicedo is looking for a triangle but Santoyo pushes his legs off easily.
Caicedo looking to hit a scissor sweep but Santoyo is one step ahead there.
Caicedo keeping moving, preventing Santoyo from controlling successfully.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Santoyo passes Caicedo's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Santoyo is trying to work for a kimura but Caicedo is defending well.

Santoyo is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Caicedo doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Santoyo.
Caicedo wants to get back to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Santoyo is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Caicedo is trying to stand.
Santoyo throwing shots but Caicedo is blocking nicely.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Caicedo checks a leg kick nicely.

Santoyo closes the distance and clinches.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Santoyo gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Caicedo regains guard.

Santoyo trying to control but Caicedo is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bruno Santoyo dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Caicedo tries to keep at a distance but Santoyo has taken the fight into the clinch.

Caicedo ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Caicedo no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Santoyo stands up from Caicedo's guard - Santoyo perhaps looking for a knockout.
Santoyo blocks the body kick.
Santoyo throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Caicedo pushes Santoyo up against the cage in a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Caicedo escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Caicedo shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Santoyo as he jumps to the side.

Santoyo gets a clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Santoyo's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Caicedo tries to clinch there but Santoyo circles away.

Santoyo feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Santoyo decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Caicedo misses with a wild combination.
Caicedo fails in his attempt to clinch.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Caicedo.
Santoyo attempts a counter takedown but Caicedo avoids it well and moves away.

Santoyo drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Caicedo can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Santoyo controls the pace.
Caicedo manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Santoyo manages to get himself to full guard.

Caicedo is breathing heavily.
Caicedo trying to control but Santoyo is working from the bottom.
Santoyo tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Santoyo is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Caicedo can do to turn this around?
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Santoyo has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Caicedo should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Santoyo has tightened it up now! Caicedo should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Bruno Santoyo gave a mention to KGM CLOTHING in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
