The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Di Santos gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Morton tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Di Santos manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Morton drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Morton jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Morton has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Morton is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Di Santos doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Morton.

Morton jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.

Morton decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Di Santos, up you get!

It looks like Sterling Morton has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Morton lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


Morton stands and steps away. Di Santos gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Di Santos tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Morton dodges the punch combination from Di Santos.

That was a close round but I would say that Sterling Morton will probably get the nod.

The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Morton for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.

A short body shot lands from Morton as the two fighters clinch.
Morton tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Morton fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Morton keeps control of Di Santos as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Di Santos makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.

Morton looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Sterling Morton overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Morton connects with a nice short shot to Di Santos's temple.
Di Santos is trying to stand back up but Morton is controlling him

Morton is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Morton is working for a submission of some sort.

Di Santos is looking to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Di Santos has hold of Morton's hands but Morton slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Morton seems to be looking for submissions.
Morton looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Di Santos with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Di Santos is trying to stand.

Morton is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Di Santos defends it well.

Morton stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Di Santos fails to land with a series of punches.
Morton is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Di Santos can do to turn this around?
Morton will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sterling Morton. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Di Santos lands a big right hook! Morton looks hurt but is still standing! Di Santos lands a left jab and another right hook! This time Morton falls down and Di Santos dives in with a huge hammer fist! Morton's eyes roll back! The referee calls for the bell and Di Santos runs up the cage to celebrate with his fans!

Roberto Di Santos decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
