PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Richard Hunt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Razor Speed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hunt comes to the cage accompanied by I Surrender. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Richard Hunt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Razor Speed!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hunt throws a nice inside leg kick.
Hunt fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Speed has closed the distance and engaged Hunt in a clinch.
Speed tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Hunt smiles and moves away.
Richard Hunt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Speed with a lazy takedown attempt
and Hunt counters with a series of strikes. Speed will be more careful next time no doubt.
Speed throws a combination that misses
and Hunt counters with a nice uppercut.
Hunt lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
We've been told by Hunt's head coaches at Kombat MMA that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Hunt misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Some wild striking there from Hunt.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Speed! But no joy.
Speed looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hunt is fending him off so far but Speed persists. Nope, Hunt circles away and we're back to standing.
Richard Hunt has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Razor Speed.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Nice defenses there by Hunt.
Speed steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Hunt. That one must have hurt.
Hunt throws a head kick but Speed moves out of range.
Hunt's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Hunt duly obliges.
Hunt misses with a few strikes there.
Hunt looks to land a combination but Speed avoids it well.
Despite the aggression on Speed's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Speed moves in looking to clinch but Hunt pushes him off.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hunt scores with a nice right hand.
Speed moves out of range as Hunt throws a body kick.
Hunt throws a head kick but Speed moves out of range.
Hunt throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Speed moves into the clinch.

Speed has picked Hunt up - he's going for a ride! Speed dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Hunt is breathing heavily.

Speed wants to work for an arm triangle but Hunt is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Hunt tries to roll over but Speed keeps him under control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Speed throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Speed not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Speed drops an elbow to the side of Hunt's head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Speed seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Speed takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Hunt avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Speed.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Speed is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Speed is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Speed lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Hunt quite badly. Hunt pulls Speed in close trying to recover. Speed postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Hunt on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Hunt doesn't seem to be complaining too much.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Razor Speed!
