Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between George Kelly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kelly comes to the cage accompanied by Jedi Mind Tricks / Retaliation . Miller has chosen Logic feat. Castro - Ballin as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, George Kelly!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Johnny Miller!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miller gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Kelly.
Miller throws a sloppy head kick
letting Kelly counter with a right hand.
Miller is looking to score with low kicks.
Kelly throwing a counter right hand but Miller manages to avoid it.
Miller fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Kelly.
Miller gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Miller takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Miller has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Kelly throws a leg kick which misses Miller's front leg but catches the back leg as Miller tries to avoid it.
Kelly moves in looking to clinch but Miller pushes him off.
Miller misses with a right hand
and Kelly makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Miller throws a jab when Kelly was well out of range.
Kelly fires out a quick counter leg kick but Miller just manages to avoid it.
Miller scores with a punch to the head.
An inside leg kick lands from Miller.

Kelly looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Miller!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kelly thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Miller tries to improve position but can't.

Kelly throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Kelly trying to control the action but Miller is working from the bottom.
Miller is trying to get back to half guard.
Kelly working the strikes but Miller uses the opportunity to regain half guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Kelly wants to work for an arm triangle but Miller is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Miller is trying to get back to full guard.
Kelly moves into full mount! Miller won't be happy about that!
Miller tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Kelly manages to capitalize on a mistake by Miller to take his back!
Miller trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
Kelly misses with an elbow to the head.
Kelly thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.

Kelly looking for the choke but no joy.

Kelly is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Miller has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Miller is trying to break free.

Kelly patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?
Kelly misses with a punch to the head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Miller trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
Kelly landing with strikes.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kelly gets his hands free as Miller looks to control.

Kelly is persistently looking for the submission but Miller is defending it well.
Miller tries to roll but Kelly sticks to his back.

The referee is taking a good look at Miller as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Kelly!

Miller is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Kelly gets his way!

Kelly throws a body kick that misses.
Kelly changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Miller misses with a right hand
and Kelly makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Miller throws a head kick that misses.
Miller throws a front kick aimed at Kelly's knee but Kelly avoids it well.
Miller shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kelly but Kelly pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Kelly feinted with a counter takedown.
Miller fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Kelly looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
Miller moves away from the strike by Kelly.
Miller throws a shot to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kelly checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Miller throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Kelly takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Kelly tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Miller was well out of range. Poor timing from Kelly.
Kelly looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Kelly lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Miller at a distance.

Miller throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Kelly.
Miller misses with a few strikes there.
Kelly on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Miller. Miller obviously looking to wear him down.
A jab from Miller does it's job there.
Miller misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Kelly misses with a wild body shot.
Miller fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Miller misses with a looping right.
Miller waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Kelly.
Miller lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Miller dives in for a single leg takedown but Kelly sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
George Kelly has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Johnny Miller.
Kelly lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Miller uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Kelly.
Miller stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kelly scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Miller throws a head kick that half lands.
A nice leg kick lands there from Miller.
Miller is looking to chop away at Kelly's legs.
Nice uppercut lands for Miller. That snapped Kelly's head back.
Kelly scores with a leg kick.
Miller throws a low kick, looking for Kelly's leg but Kelly calmly moves out of range.

Miller has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Kelly.
Kelly lands a nice leg kick that just misses Miller's sensitive parts.
Johnny Miller seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kelly throws a body punch but Miller moves out of range.
Kelly takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

As Miller backs away, Kelly returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.

and Kelly counters with a good low kick that Miller was not able to check.

Kelly lands with a kick to the temple. Miller shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Miller will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Miller takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.

Miller fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Miller lands with an overhand left.
Miller lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Kelly uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Miller.
Miller tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Kelly defends well and Miller ends up having to push Kelly into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

A close second round but Johnny Miller will probably get the nod - 10:9.

As Miller looks to move away, Kelly throws a big counter combo bu Miller just gets out of the way.
Miller fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Kelly has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Kelly fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Miller manages to avoid it.
Kelly takes one to the chin there.

Miller moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Miller throws a big shot that misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters circle momentarily. Miller darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Kelly feints and then cracks Miller's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Miller down.

Kelly decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Kelly has gone for a leg lock! Miller slips out almost immediately though and dives into Kelly's guard.

Miller throws a strike but Kelly rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

and Kelly counters with a head kick that drops Miller to the mat! Miller scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!


Miller is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Miller's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Kelly defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Miller.
Kelly moves out of range of the strikes.
Kelly lands a nice looking body shot.
George Kelly is winning the standup battle so far.
Miller throws a hook to the side of Kelly's head but Kelly sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Miller scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Kelly doesn't seem bothered though.
Miller throws the left hand but Kelly avoids the punch easily.
Miller misses with a jab, cross combination.
Kelly drops down looking for a counter takedown but Miller sprawls and moves away.

enabling Kelly to counter with a crisp jab.
Miller looks to land a combination but Kelly avoids it well.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to George Kelly.
I think Kelly has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

George Kelly really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Perkele! logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
