The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Velasquez as Medved shoots in.
Velasquez has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Velasquez connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Velasquez is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Medved closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Medved clinches up with Velasquez and pushes him back against the cage.
Velasquez is trying to force a seperation but Medved has the dominant position.
Velasquez is trying to break the clinch but Medved is controlling him.

Velasquez escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Medved has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Velasquez finds it's way round the side to connect with Medved 's head.
Velasquez lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
The fighters circle momentarily. Velasquez darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Velasquez circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Medved to the canvas! Medved doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Velasquez keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!
