Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Fedor Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Old Greg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Greg's choice of entrance music: Love Games. Old Greg told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Fedor Silva!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Old Greg!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Donatello Bradman and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Greg closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Greg throws a strike but Silva avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Silva is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Silva has his foot on Greg's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Greg works his way back into a safe position though.
Greg working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Silva throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Greg advances position into side control!
Silva struggling a bit here.
The strikes coming from Greg are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Greg misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Greg working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Greg is putting a hurting on Silva here, landing some big shots from side control.

Silva wants to control but Greg postures up.
Greg misses with the ground and pound.
Silva avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Greg.
You can see the frustration on Silva's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Sloppy strikes there by Greg.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Greg tries to clinch there but Silva circles away.
Greg shoots in and drives through. Silva sprawls well.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Silva jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Silva throws a leg kick which misses Greg's front leg but catches the back leg as Greg tries to avoid it.
Silva cracks the inside of Greg's front leg.
Greg looks gassed!
A solid leg kick lands there for Silva.
Silva feints and then cracks Greg's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Greg down.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Greg on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Silva. Silva obviously looking to wear him down.
Silva plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
It looks like Old Greg has been cut.
Greg stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Silva.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Silva misses with a body shot.
Silva catches Greg with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Nice takedown defense from Silva. No joy for Greg on that attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Silva lands a big head kick that sends Greg to the canvas! Silva follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:11 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Fedor Silva!
