Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Diego Patinho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Darrell Stevenson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stevenson misses with the combination.
Stevenson throws a nice looking combination but Patinho bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Patinho is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Stevenson.

Patinho is looking for a counter combo.

Patinho tries to counter with a takedown but Stevenson is quick to defend against it.

Stevenson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Patinho moves into the clinch.
Stevenson wants to get back to striking at distance but Patinho won't allow it.
Patinho is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Stevenson to keep the fight standing.
Patinho wants to take the fight to the mat but Stevenson manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Patinho takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Patinho pulls Stevenson in close to prevent any damage.
Stevenson trying to stand up but can't free himself from Patinho's guard.
Patinho wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Patinho lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Stevenson is working an open guard so Patinho takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Stevenson throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
As Stevenson looks to move away, Patinho throws a big counter combo bu Stevenson just gets out of the way.

Patinho drives through and clinches with Stevenson against the cage.

Patinho escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Stevenson lands a left and a right that send Patinho crashing to the mat, dazed. Stevenson thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Stevenson gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Patinho throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Stevenson works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Patinho is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Patinho postures up in Stevenson's guard and throws a big left but Stevenson blocks it.
Patinho is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Stevenson prevents a takedown attempt there.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Patinho passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Stevenson!
Stevenson is breathing heavily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Stevenson is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
