PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dave Turbo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Winner Four (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Dave Turbo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Winner Four!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Santiago Holmes and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Four.
Turbo tries to clinch up but Four circles away and keeps his distance.
No joy there for Turbo, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Four tries to counter with a clinch but Turbo shakes him off and moves away.
Four avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Four shoots in but no luck this time.
Turbo displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Four.
Dave Turbo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Winner Four.
Four bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Turbo wants to clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
An inside leg kick from Turbo misses.
Four shoots in looking for a takedown. Turbo tries to sprawl out of it but Four keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Turbo manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Four shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Turbo as he avoids it easily.
Turbo throws a series of punches but Four moves out of range.
Turbo is looking to land body kicks.
Four will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Turbo tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Four paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Four shoots in for a takedown but Turbo shows good takedown defense.
Turbo stuffs the takedown.

Turbo drives through and clinches with Four against the cage.
Four blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Four trying to control the position from guard on top but Turbo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Turbo is on top in guard.

Turbo gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Turbo tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Four is able to avoid easily.
Four dives in and grabs Turbo's left leg, looking for a takedown. Turbo pushes down on Four's head and hops out.
Turbo changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Turbo looks to land a right hand but Four moved out of range.
Turbo tries a low kick but Four avoids it.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Four.

Four is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Turbo.
Four shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Turbo as he jumps to the side.

Turbo clinches.

Turbo pulls guard successfully.

Turbo pushes Four off and gets back to his feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Turbo tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Four changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Turbo moves into the clinch successfully.
Turbo tries for a takedown but Four manages to get underhooks.
Four fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Turbo tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Four shoots in for a takedown but Turbo shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Four is breathing heavily.

Turbo jumps guard and drags Four to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Turbo bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Four's guard.

Turbo is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Turbo's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Turbo is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Four can do to turn this around?

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Four can do anything to dispel that myth.
Turbo passes Four's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Turbo moves nicely into side control.
Turbo tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

Turbo is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Four has escaped the position, nice work there.

Turbo attempts a counter takedown but Four avoids it well and moves away.
Four throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Turbo's waist but Turbo gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Four off to one side.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Four is defended easily by Turbo.
It looked like Turbo wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Four tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Turbo just stands there and leans against the cage.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Turbo holds on and takes a little breather.
Four won't allow Turbo to sweep him here.

Turbo manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Four manages to get himself to full guard.

Four is working an open guard so Turbo takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

As Four looks to move away, Turbo throws a big counter combo bu Four just gets out of the way.
Turbo misses with a jab, cross combination.
Turbo throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Four changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Turbo tries to avoid it but Four manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Turbo to the ground. Turbo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Turbo moves into the clinch successfully.
Turbo is looking for a takedown.
Four tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Turbo smiles and moves away.
Four avoids the body shot from Turbo.

Four tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Turbo swivels and escapes.
Turbo throws a head kick but Four moves out of range.

The fight stays on the outside here - Turbo looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
