PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bittor Xavier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phil Mcracken (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Xavier comes into the arena with Jane's Addiction- Mountain Song blaring out of the sound system. Mcracken comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Onra - I Wanna Go Back kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 35 - 33 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bittor Xavier!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Phil Mcracken!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Trevor Gratis and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Xavier shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Xavier lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Mcracken is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Xavier's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Xavier's back!
Xavier just trying to survive but Mcracken is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

Mcracken has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Xavier's body.

Mcracken seems like he's trying to stand.

Mcracken has Xavier's back but decides to stand back up... Obviously he fancies his chances in the standup department!

Mcracken changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Xavier looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Xavier is looking for a sweep.
Mcracken wants to stand but Xavier is controlling his arm.
Xavier is looking to reverse the position.
Xavier is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Mcracken off and has taken his back!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Xavier looking to break Mcracken's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Mcracken remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Xavier will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Xavier cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Xavier has hold of Mcracken's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Mcracken manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Mcracken fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Xavier to the ground. Mcracken is now in Xavier's guard.

Xavier isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Mcracken stacks Xavier on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Mcracken!

Xavier is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Mcracken is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Xavier tries to reverse the position but Mcracken maintains control.

Xavier makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Xavier.
Mcracken would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Mcracken won't allow Xavier to sweep him here.

Phil Mcracken showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



A momentary lapse in concentration from Xavier enables Mcracken to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Xavier manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Phil Mcracken comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Mcracken has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A less than humble Phil Mcracken misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
