PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hugh Poe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Quetzal Montezuma (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Montezuma is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by The Mayan Predator. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Poe uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Montezuma.
A jab from Montezuma finds it's way through Poe's defenses.
Poe avoids the body shot from Montezuma.
Montezuma misses with a straight right.
Poe appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Montezuma throws a hook to the side of Poe's head but Poe sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Poe fails with the takedown.
Montezuma throws a low kick, looking for Poe's leg but Poe calmly moves out of range.
Montezuma misses with a looping left.
Montezuma lands a jab to Poe's midsection.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Montezuma throws a right hand that misses
and Poe counters with a right hand to the body.
Montezuma thows a left - swing and a miss!
Poe is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Montezuma.
Montezuma connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Poe momentarily.
Montezuma loads up on a big right hand but Poe slips the punch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Poe looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Montezuma is fending him off so far but Poe persists. Nope, Montezuma circles away and we're back to standing.
Montezuma misses with a straight right.
Montezuma misses the jab.
Montezuma keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Quetzal Montezuma seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Montezuma gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Montezuma is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Poe drops back looking for a leg! Montezuma is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Montezuma manages to kick Poe off! Poe jumps back into Montezuma's guard.
Montezuma controls Poe momentarily but Poe frees himself.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Poe drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Poe jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Montezuma is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Poe drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Poe seems to have locked his on tight now - Montezuma screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Poe, as he picks up the win!
