Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lance Cotton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Louis Gunines (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lance Cotton has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lance Cotton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Louis Gunines!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Chris Dean and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Gunines.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Gunines looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Cotton is avoiding damage well.
Gunines throws a strike aimed at the side of Cotton's head but Cotton avoids it well.
Gunines is looking to take a break and control but Cotton is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Cotton wants to control but Gunines postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cotton gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Cotton keeping hold of Gunines's head, controlling as best he can.

Gunines is looking for a kimura but Cotton is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Gunines to get the leverage.
Gunines is looking to take a break and control but Cotton is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Cotton moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Gunines stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cotton swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Gunines swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Cotton counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Gunines looks winded!
Cotton throws a head kick that Gunines semi-blocks.

Cotton gets caught napping as Gunines dives in and scores a takedown. Cotton manages to retain guard.
Cotton is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Gunines is controlling him.
Cotton manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Gunines manages to get himself to full guard.

Cotton wants to stand but Gunines has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Gunines not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Cotton has gone for a leg lock! Gunines slips out almost immediately though and dives into Cotton's guard.

Gunines slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Cotton has control of Gunines's left arm, preventing Gunines from doing any damage.
Cotton tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Cotton controls Gunines momentarily but Gunines frees himself.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Gunines misses with a wild body shot.
Cotton is looking to counter the offense by Gunines and move into the clinch.
Cotton could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Gunines shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Gunines was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Gunines is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Cotton has escaped the position, nice work there.

Cotton is not content to let Gunines control the position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Gunines takes a little break here. Cotton wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Cotton lands a big head kick that sends Gunines tumbling to the mat! Cotton takes a step backwards and waves Gunines back to his feet - he wants the finish!


It looks like Louis Gunines has been cut.

Gunines rushes Cotton and presses him up against the cage.

Cotton escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Gunines shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Cotton is wriggling around but Gunines manages to pass to half guard.

Gunines prevents Cotton from improving his position.
Cotton knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gunines on the ground.
Gunines thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Cotton might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Gunines is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Gunines stops Cotton from getting back to his feet.

Cotton pushes Gunines off looking to stand but Gunines dives back in and keeps control.

Louis Gunines showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Gunines looks to land a right hand but Cotton moved out of range.
Cotton tries to close the distance and clinch but Gunines swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Gunines looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Cotton is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Cotton is looking for a sweep. Gunines is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Cotton tries to kick Gunines off in order to stand up. Gunines Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Cotton wants to control but Gunines postures up.
Gunines wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cotton keeps working.

Gunines goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Cotton rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Gunines's guard! Nice work there by Cotton!

Gunines looking for a guillotine here but Cotton defends easily.
Cotton has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Gunines takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Gunines escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Cotton gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Cotton drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Gunines manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Cotton has Gunines in his guard.

Gunines throws a big elbow that misses.
Gunines's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Gunines would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Cotton pulls Gunines in close to prevent any damage.
Cotton trying to keep a closed guard but Gunines is proving a slippery customer.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Cotton throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Gunines tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Cotton is in Gunines's guard.

Cotton postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Gunines is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Cotton, into his guard.


Gunines decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Cotton, up you get!
Louis Gunines seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Cotton looking to score a takedown here. Gunines is defending well but Cotton drives through and ends up in Gunines's guard.
Gunines is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

I've got Gunines winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
