Benton comes to the cage accompanied by Shed Seven - Bully Boy. Kilpatrick is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Gentleman. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 33 - 24 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Glenn Benton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 9 - 2, fighting out of New York, Luke Kilpatrick!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Colin Fray and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Benton fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Kilpatrick delivers a nice body kick.
Kilpatrick throws a body punch but Benton moves out of range.
Benton looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Benton misses with a double jab.
Benton misses with a jab to the body

and Kilpatrick counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Benton won't allow Kilpatrick to pass to mount.
Kilpatrick not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Kilpatrick sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Benton defending well though.
Kilpatrick is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Kilpatrick thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Benton's head.
Kilpatrick is trying to control the action in half guard but Benton is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kilpatrick throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Benton wants to get back to his feet.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Benton throws a sloppy head kick
and Kilpatrick counters with a left to the body.
Kilpatrick throws a shot to the body.
Benton on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Kilpatrick. Kilpatrick obviously looking to wear him down.
Benton misses with a left hand

so Kilpatrick counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Benton wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Kilpatrick manages to pass to side control.

Benton keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Benton has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Kilpatrick is on him like a limpet, forcing Benton back against the cage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kilpatrick working aggressively here.
Kilpatrick lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Kilpatrick prevents a takedown attempt there.

Benton pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Glenn Benton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kilpatrick uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Benton.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Kilpatrick - that will leave a mark!
Benton takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Glenn Benton is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Benton digs a good body shot into Kilpatrick's ribs.
Benton throws out a loose jab but Kilpatrick uses good head movement to avoid it.
Benton connects with a single shot there.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kilpatrick avoids the head kick by Benton.

Kilpatrick lands a left and a right that send Benton crashing to the mat, dazed. Kilpatrick thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


Benton is rocked!


It looks like Glenn Benton has been cut.
Benton throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Kilpatrick scores with a counter punch that sends Benton to the canvas! Kilpatrick smells blood - he's punishing Benton with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Benton has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:15 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Luke Kilpatrick!
An out of breath Luke Kilpatrick thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
