Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Cornell Cook!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Sam Dean!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Roger Salmon and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dean shoots and misses
and Cook connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Dean clinches up with Cook and pushes him back against the cage.
The referee is keeping an eye on Dean - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Dean effectively controlling the action here.
Dean receives a warning from the referee for stalling.
Dean is trying to force a seperation but Cook has the dominant position.
Cook really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Cook wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Cook has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dean is trying to drag Cook to the mat but Cook just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Dean lands with a left to the head.

Cornell Cook has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sam Dean.

Dean breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Dean shoots in and bounces Cook off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Cook swats away the attempt to clinch by Dean.

and Cook counters with a good low kick that Dean was not able to check.

Dean shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Cook's guard.

Cook trying to keep a closed guard but Dean is proving a slippery customer.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cook is looking to stand up but Dean isn't so interested in that idea.

Dean gets to his feet. Cook looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Dean is looking to clinch but Cook is avoiding it.

Cook fails to pull guard.
Cook prevents a takedown attempt there.
Come on Dean - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Cook is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Dean is keeping busy.
Dean is looking to take this one to the mat.

Cook wants to break free but Dean has control.
Cook tries to pull guard but Dean forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Cook has Dean pressed against the cage.
Dean presses Cook against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Dean prevents Cook from breaking the clinch.

Dean ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Dean no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sam Dean dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Dean tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Cook defends well and Dean ends up having to push Cook into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Dean decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Dean tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Cook manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Dean shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Cook defends it nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Cook counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Cornell Cook has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sam Dean.

and Cook counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Dean is breathing heavily.

and Cook counters with a head kick. That will keep Dean thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Cook shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Dean pinned against the cage. Dean gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Cook shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Cook was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Cook decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Cook is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Cook shoots for a double leg takedown but Dean sprawls well. He's pushed Cook's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Dean misses with a kick to the body
and Cook counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Dean tries to close the distance and clinch up but Cook swats him away and circles back towards the center.
And Cook counters with a quick kick to the body but Dean blocks it.
Dean doesn't succeed with the takedown
enabling Cook to counter with a crisp jab.
Cornell Cook is winning the standup battle so far.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Cook lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Cook.

Cook instigates a clinch.
Cook is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Cook fails to pull the fight into his guard.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Cook is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Dean tries to pull guard but Cook forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Dean tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Cook smiles and moves away.
Dean doesn't manage to clinch there - Cook circles away.
Cook appears to be looking for a big counter.
Dean with a poor takedown
and Cook counters with a three punch combo that has Dean backing up. Dean nods at Cook to acknowledge the strikes.
Cook wants to clinch up but Dean keeps it at a distance.
Dean has his takedown stuffed
and Dean takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Cook has managed to clinch.
Cook wants to break the clinch but can't.
Dean prevents the takedown attempt.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Cook takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Cook shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Dean pinned against the cage. Dean gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Dean tries to clinch there but Cook circles away.
Cook fails in his attempt to clinch.

and Cook counters with a right hand to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dean connects with a nice looking jab.

Cook closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Dean struggling a bit here.
Dean takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Cook wants to stand but Dean has his arm trapped.
Dean tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Cook wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Sloppy strikes there by Cook.

Cook decides to stand back up. Cook steps back and let's Dean get back to his feet.
Cook keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Cook throws a quick counter head kick but Dean was just out of range.

Dean shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Dean showed some decent athleticism there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cook tries to kick Dean off but Dean keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Cook flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Cook has one foot on Dean's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Dean tries to clinch up.
Cook appears to be looking for a big counter.
Cook shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Cook scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Dean darts in trying to clinch
and Cook counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Dean looks to clinch
and Cook counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Dean gets a clinch.
Cook gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Dean.
Cornell Cook has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sam Dean.

Cook wants the takedown. Dean is fighting it off but Cook persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Dean's guard against the cage.

Dean looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Cook has picked Dean up and slammed him! Dean can't keep hold of the triangle and Cook manages to pass to side control!

Nice takedown defense from Dean. No joy for Cook on that attempt.
Cook fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Dean avoids it really well and circles away.
