The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Medeiros cracks a nice hook into Bannon's ribs.

and Bannon counters with a series of strikes. Medeiros will be more careful next time no doubt.

Bannon throws a low kick but Medeiros moves out of range easily.

Bannon takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Medeiros is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Bannon is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Bannon wants to get back to his feet.
Medeiros slows the pace down.
Medeiros postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Bannon parries the strikes from Medeiros easily there. Medeiros is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Bannon to escape.
Medeiros has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Medeiros tries to move to mount but Bannon blocks the move with his legs.

Bannon is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Medeiros misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Medeiros seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Bannon does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Medeiros has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Medeiros uses his free foot to push down on Bannon's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Bannon.
Bannon wants to hold on but Medeiros pushes him away.
