PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Malakai Rex (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Dallas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Malakai Rex!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Dallas!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Joseph Jones and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rex throws a quick inside leg kick.

Rex gets caught flat footed, as Dallas shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Rex wants to stand but Dallas is controlling the position.
Dallas controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Rex wants to stand up but Dallas is controlling him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rex trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Dallas has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Reggieland. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Rex takes a swing at Dallas's ribcage but misses.
Rex changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Dallas looks winded!
Dallas moves out of range of the body kick from Rex.
Rex throws a quick inside leg kick.
Rex swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Rex stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Rex wants it to stay on the feet.
Rex punishes Dallas's body with a nice straight punch.
Rex throws a sloppy head kick and Dallas moves out of range easily.

Rex misses with the combination.

Dallas chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Rex can pounce on him.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Rex.
Dallas on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Rex keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Rex scores with a kick to the midsection.

Rex tries a head kick but it misses.
Dallas wants to counter the offense by Rex and move into the clinch position.
Dallas takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Good leg kick by Rex there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Rex connects with the punch.
Rex tries to bum rush Dallas with a series of wild strikes but Dallas uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Dallas takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Dallas closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Rex quickly recovers to half guard.

Dallas wants to free his trapped foot but Rex is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Dallas not doing much here.
Rex wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Rex kicks Dallas off and gets back to his feet.
Nice cross by Rex.
Rex lands a jab-cross combination.
Dallas tries for a takedown but Rex sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Rex tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Dallas misses with a takedown attempt - Rex sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Malakai Rex has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joe Dallas.
Rex lands a nice leg kick that just misses Dallas's sensitive parts.
Rex pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Dallas back to the cage. Rex follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Rex throws a head kick but Dallas moves out of range.

Dallas has Rex up against the cage in a clinch.

Dallas breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Malakai Rex seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rex throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Dallas changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rex tries to avoid it but Dallas manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rex to the ground. Rex escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Dallas on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

and Dallas counters by clinching up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Dallas has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Rex.

Dallas drives through and clinches with Rex against the cage.
Rex wants to break the clinch but can't.
Rex tries to land knees in the clinch but Dallas avoids the damage to the body.

Rex throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Dallas trying to control the position but instead, Rex has worked for underhooks and has pushed Dallas into the cage.

Rex pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Dallas shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Rex napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Rex is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Rex is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Dallas can do to turn this around?

Dallas decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Rex lands with an uppercut that bounces Dallas off the cage and back into range.
Rex slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Dallas blocks the body kick.
Rex connects with a high kick.

Dallas looks to land a combination. Rex sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Dallas bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Dallas tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Rex wants to get back to his feet.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Rex tries to land a knee to the head but Dallas blocks with his arms.
Dallas changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Rex fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Dallas's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Rex throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.

Rex smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Rex throws a right hand that Dallas ducks under and follows up with a left that Dallas also avoids with ease.

Rex utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.

Dallas is looking to take this one to the mat.

Dallas pulls guard effortlessly.
Rex wants to get up but he can't break Dallas's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Dallas looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Dallas looking for a guillotine here but Rex defends easily.
Rex wants to stand but Dallas has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Rex scoring well with a low kick there.
Rex dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Dallas. That did some damage!
Dallas ducks right into an uppercut from Rex.

And that's the end of the fight!
Malakai Rex showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Rex has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A relieved looking Malakai Rex thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
